Cousin’s James and David Sera are making the New South Wales Karting Championships in Tamworth a family show this weekend.

The pair diced it out for victory in the pre-final of the highly competitive Clubman Light category today before James came out as the narrow victor aboard his Australian-made Azzurro kart.

James, who won his third Australian championship earlier this year, is also competing in the 125cc Leopard Light category where he will start from second position behind polesitter Cian Fothergill.

Fothergill was also one of the front-runners in the Clubman Light category but unfortunately a flat tyre in the pre-final means that he will start from the rear of the grid in tomorrow’s final.

Like his older cousin, David is also competing in another category – namely the 125cc Rotax Light class where he will start from sixth position in tomorrow’s championship final.

In the junior ranks Pierce Lehane and Joesph Mawson continued to show the field a clean pair of heels in the Formula JMA category. Behind the leading duo came Michael Stewart, Macauley Jones and Anton De Pasquale.

With a full field of 32 competitors lining up in the Junior National Light category the action came thick and fast throughout the qualifying races. In the end it was Bradley Jenner who claimed the all important pole position ahead of James Golding.

The youngest competitors this weekend in the Rookies category are putting on a great show with the likes of Jayden Ojela, Gus Flynn, Reece Sidebottom and Stefan Stankovic battling at the front of the field.
