MOVE over Daniel Ricciardo and Mark Webber. There is a new speed demon in town.
Hugh Barter may be aged only eight but he is already turning heads in the motor racing world.
Not many primary school students have their own manager, more than 53,000 likes on Facebook and a detailed plan to become a Formula One world champion.
But the youngster, who started driving aged five at Stony Creek Kart Club, is no ordinary schoolboy.
Despite being behind the wheel of a kart for just three years, his driving ambition is clear.
“I love racing — I would do it every day if I could,’’ he said.
“I want to be the next Daniel Ricciardo and win the F1 World Championship.”
There is a long way to go before that happens but he is off to a fast start. This year, he launched his own line of racing merchandise, aims to achieve 2000 YouTube subscribers by next month, win the state championship and land 10 major sponsors. He wants to be a professional junior before his 15th birthday.
