Victorian youngsters Alana Gurney and Sammy Jansen van Vuuren are in the midst of a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix this week.
Thanks to an initiative by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Karting Australia, the talented duo were recently named the ‘Team of Tomorrow’ drivers for the event, an exclusive opportunity earned through their performances at the 21st annual Junior Top Guns event at Oakleigh Go-Kart Racing Club in January.
Following interviews with AGPC and Karting Australia management, Alana and Sammy were selected from the top five male and female Cadet 12 drivers. On Monday, they hit the track at the Go-Kart Club of Victoria, competing in the Stars of Karting event in specially branded Team of Tomorrow karts.
Today, their incredible journey continued as they walked alongside Formula 1 drivers on Melbourne Walk before enjoying an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the F1 paddock.
