As the second round of the 2025 SP Tools Australian Kart Championship looms, KZ2 contender Dylan Guest is heading to next weekend’s event at the Monarto circuit near Murray Bridge, SA, brimming with confidence.
Guest currently sits third in the points standings, just 12 points behind Supercars driver James Golding, who is contesting the full Championship.
The talented Western Australian, who last claimed a round win in 2023, is entering his third full season in the elite gearbox class. With that comes not only experience, but also a solid understanding of the competition and circuits.
“I’m feeling pretty confident,” said Guest.
“The first round was good to secure some solid points. We didn’t quite have the pace of the two front-runners, but I’ve made a few changes, and I’m feeling really good for Monarto.
“I raced at Monarto in 2023 and I’m quite excited to be heading back there.”
Racing runs in the Guest family. Dylan’s twin brother, Sebastian, will also be competing at the event in KA3 Senior. The duo has long been a fixture in the karting paddock, with a sibling rivalry that has pushed both to greater heights.
“When we used to race together, it was always a challenge against him—no one else,” reflected Guest.
That competitive spirit is balanced by a shared passion for the sport and strong family support – hallmarks of the karting community. The Guest family typically embarks on road trips to each round, with father Chris clocking thousands of kilometres each year from their Perth base to help his sons chase national success.
With momentum building and plenty still to play for, all eyes will be on the Monarto circuit as Guest and Australia’s best gearbox drivers battle for championship honours.
The round will be hosted by the Go-Kart Club of South Australia at the Monarto circuit, just 10 minutes from Murray Bridge, on the Old Princes Highway. Admission is free for spectators, with on-track action beginning at 8am Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
More than 340 drivers, some from as young as seven, will be competing at the event across eight classes catering for a variety of ages and technical specifications.
Saturday and Sunday’s racing will be broadcast live and free on 7plus Sport from 1pm (Saturday) and 12pm (Sunday).
