WUNDOWIE THE PLACE TO BE IN THE WEST THIS WEEKEND

The Western Australian karting community has converged on the Hurricane Kart Club in Wundowie for the 2015 Western Australian Kart Championship this weekend.

With 237 entries being received across 13 categories for the prestigious event, there will be drivers from as young as seven in the Cadet 9 class through to the more experienced in life in the Sportsman Masters class in action.

With 31 entries, the TaG 125 Light class is the largest field that includes some of the most experienced campaigners. Included in the entry list is Anthony Martin, who is fresh of a campaign in America where he claimed the Rookie of the Year Award in the USF2000 Mazda Road to Indy Championship.

There are also some strong fields of both Clubman Light and Clubman Heavy. In Clubman Light there are a number of youngsters who will be looking to make their mark including Brock Kenny, Nikola Mitic, Jesse Elliott and Scott Foster. Taking the fight to the boys will be a pair of female racers – Kerry Foster and Stephanie Stones.

Official Practice for the event begins today ahead of qualifying and the opening round of heat races. The racing will continue on Saturday ahead of the championship finals on Sunday.
