The Rural City of Murray Bridge will roar into top gear next month (May 13-15) with Round Three of the 2016 Australian Kart Championship presented by Jayco and Castrol EDGE coming to the region.

With more than 220 competitors expected to converge on the Monarto Karting Complex for the event there will be a significant influx of visitors to the River Murray City.

“It’s fantastic to have events such as the Australian Kart Championship coming to Murray Bridge, not only for the excitement of the racing but also the boost for the local economy,” said Mayor Brenton Lewis.

“We have some great facilities in the region and the Monarto Karting Complex is regarded as one of the best karting venues in Australia, we look forward to seeing the best young drivers from all across Australia coming to compete.”

It is the second year in succession that a round in the five-event Australian Kart Championship has been contested at the Monarto Karting Complex, much to the delight of Go-Kart Club of South Australia President Andrew Jericho.

“Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event at the venue we’re delighted to be hosting another round in 2016,” said Jericho.

“The support shown by everyone in the region towards the Australian Kart Championship last year was fantastic and we look forward to an even bigger and better event in 2016.”

Teams and Competitors will begin visiting Murray Bridge later this month for pre-event testing before official practice kicks off on Friday May 13.

The May 13-15 event kicks off a double header of motor racing action for the Rural City of Murray Bridge with Round Four of the MX Nationals coming to town the following weekend.
