AWC MOTORSPORT ACADEMY ANNOUNCE 2018 AKC LINE-UP

AWC-MS-Academy-Logo.jpgWith the 2018 season just around the corner AWC Motorsport Academy are pleased to announce their drivers for 2018 who will represent the team in the 2018 Australian Kart Championship. After a strong showing in 2017 we believe that the selected drivers can take the team to a new level and everyone here is excited to begin working on making 2018 an even better year.

KA1
Lachlan Dalton
After a standout year in KA2 Lochie Dalton will be progressing to the senior ranks in 2018 and will represent the team in the KA1 class. His recent debut in seniors saw him run at the front of the TAG Light field at the recent Tasmanian State Titles and with the first round at his favourite AKC track Monarto he’ll be looking to start the year off strongly.

TAG 125
Alastair Lee
A new addition to the AKC next year will be Alastair Lee. Alastair has been the benchmark in the TAG Light class in Tasmania in 2017 and this was demonstrated at the recent Tasmanian State Titles as he was able to scythe his way through a high quality field in the final from 8th spot to finish first and in the process take his maiden State Title win. It’s great to give Alastair and his father Stu the opportunity to showcase their abilities against the best in the country.

KA3
Dean O’Brien
Dean O’Brien joined the team towards the end of 2017 and along with his father Jimmy has fitted in to the team straight away. A strong showing at Emerald and a win at The City of Melbourne Titles bode well for a successful tilt at the championship in 2018.

KZ2
Zane Wyatt
The vastly experienced Zane Wyatt will once again pilot the team entry in the KZ class. Changes to equipment late in the year resulted in a marked improvement in his performances and the Launceston based veteran will be looking to give the championship a red hot go in 2018.

KA2
Jay Hanson
Everyone within the team is excited at the news that current KA4 Junior Australian Champion Jay Hanson will be joining AWCMA for 2018. Jay will be making the progression to the KA2 class and we look forward to working with both Jay and his father Dale to help this extremely talented driver develop his skills and progress even further.

KA2
Callum Bishop
2017 was a bit of a quiet year of racing for Callum Bishop but that’s all about to change in 2018. After jumping back in the seat late in the year, the diminutive Hobartian has really impressed with a very strong showing at the Junior Sprint in KA3 Junior. Bishop will be representing the team in KA2 to give the team a formidable driver line up in this class.

KA4 Junior
Fletcher Bellars
Fletcher Bellars is back for his second year at AKC level and will no doubt be looking to build on the experience he gained this year. He should be much stronger after learning the tracks and experiencing the heightened level of competition that the series entails and will be looking for a more consistent and competitive 2018.
