TYRE TENDER PERIOD EXTENDED

Coronavirus Measures Puts Tyre Tender Process on Hold

Karting Australia advises that the current contractual arrangements for the supply of tyres will remain in place until December 31, 2021.

In July last year, Karting Australia opened an invitation to Tender for the supply of tyres for the period 2021-2025. Since this time, a procurement process has taken place to the point at which Karting Australia is currently midway through the nine-step process.

The Board of Karting Australia believes that it would be imprudent to be making decisions for the next five years of tyre supply for the sport in Australia in the current climate of uncertainty as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic and has put the tender process on hold.

“We hold the belief that putting the procurement process on hold for 12 months is both a fair and reasonable position to take given the extraordinary and completely unforeseen circumstances that are currently confronting the world,” said Karting Australia CEO Kelvin O’Reilly.

“We hope that this decision will allow the crisis to pass and for the world to begin to repair itself throughout 2020/2021 before we make the decisions on the Tender. We have also formed our view in the interests of fairness for all parties to the Tender and the entire karting community.”

“This is not a decision that has been taken lightly but it is in the best interests of all Tenderers and the sport of karting that we administer in Australia. The Board would like to thank our current tyre contractors and the tendering companies for their assistance and understanding in these difficult times.”
