SUPERCARS DUO RETURN TO RACING THIS WEEKEND IN EMERALD

Supercars drivers Todd Hazelwood and Jake Kostecki are set to take on Sunshine State’s best drivers at the 2021 Queensland Kart Championship in Emerald this weekend.

Joining over 300 other competitors at the Central Queensland circuit, Kostecki and Hazelwood will line up in the TaG 125 Light and TaG 125 Heavy categories respectively as they hope to return to the top step of the podium like they both have during their junior karting careers on their way to the Repco Supercars Championship.

Hazelwood, who regularly spends time at the Bundaberg Kart Club will be one to watch in the TaG 125 Heavy category aboard his CRG Kart.

“I’m really looking forward to getting on track on this weekend, testing is very limited in Supercars and with the Championship currently on hold, having the chance to race anything and stay sharp will be great,” said Hazelwood.

Like all of the drivers in the Supercars ranks, both Kostecki and Hazelwood spent much of their formative years competing in major karting events across the country and have more recently used karting to remain sharp in between Supercars events.

Practice will get underway on Friday with qualifying and racing to follow across the weekend.
