Local hopes dashed – from the Rockhampton Morning Bulletin

THE first round of the Super Cheap Auto Karting series was expected to give Matt Dicinoski a jump on the field for the five legs of the event, but it all went wrong for the Rockhampton karter as he limped home seventh overall.

The Fitzroy Park Raceway was the venue for the two-day event but of the anticipated 90-100 karts, only 63 were nominated.

The famous John Martin was one of the no-shows but despite these disappointments Formula K Kart Club publicity officer Kevin Doherty was pleased with the quality of racing.
