Drivers pledge fatality free day – from the Gladstone Observer

IF a group of concerned motorists get their way Saturday, there won’t be a front page in the country that reports a death occurring on any road.

Tomorrow is Fatality Free Friday and the nationwide aim is self-explanatory: no deaths on the roads.

The inititiative is supported by tens of thousands of drivers who have pledged to adhere to road rules and speed limits and take extra caution while driving.

Motor sport exponents from across the spectrum, as well as everyday motorists, have taken the pledge to be particualrly mindful on roads across the country today, and the hope is this becomes the prevailing attitude as road safety campaigns continue regularly.
