The second round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series was held at Newcastle City Race Way at Cameron Park held over the 21st and 22nd of April. Top Kart drivers were at the forefront of the fields dominating the Pro Light (KF1) and Pro Junior (KF3) classes.
Cameron Hill was a stand out in the hotly contested field of Pro Junior (KF3) drivers. After competing in the series for his second year, Hill has shown he has what it takes to compete for the championship. Hill took out both 25 lap finals cruising to victory in Final 2 by a comfortable 4.8 seconds. Hill commented after the race “It’s unbelievable; it feels great to finally get this monkey off my back and finally win a round.”
Joseph Mawson was back in action again after securing P2 on the front row in the shootout in Pro Light (KF1). Mawson showed great pace throughout the weekend, and in the final it showed with Mawson securing his first win in the Pro Light (KF1) class.
Kyle Ensbey was a standout once again in the extremely competitive Pro Gearbox (KZ2) class. Ensbey managed to take out all heat wins and final 1, showing he is a serious contender to win the championship. Unfortunately for Ensbey his winning streak came to an end when his reed peddle cracked hampering his chances of winning the final, however he managed to secure 3rd position in the final. Ensbey is currently leading the championship and has opened up his lead in the fight to take out the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) championship.
The Top-Kart Comer Australia race team will now move their focus to round three of the CIK Stars of Karting Series to be held at the Ipswich Kart Club in June.
