Tillotson tech trackside
Tillotson Product Engineer Andrew Fallon will be trackside at the Australian Kart Championship in a technical support role alongside Remo Luciani.
Fallon will be available to service competitors carburettors or offer advice to all competitors throughout the event.
Andrew himself is an experienced kart racer and started competing in 2000. As part of his role with Tillotson he carries out extensive track testing for research and development purposes and this year he has returned to competing in the Motorsport Ireland National Championships in the X30 category.
Hossack sidelined, Klunyk subbed in
With their star driver David Sera still sidelined with a wrist injury, the DPE Kart Technology team was dealt a further blow recently with Team Manager Darren Hossack suffering injuries to both knees during a Speedway crash.
The accident will see him endure a lengthy spell on the sidelines from not only his own racing in both Speedway and Sports Sedans but also his role with the DPE team.
In his absence former long-time DPE employee Adam Klunyk will fill Hossack’s role as Team Manager for the outfit.
Uniquely South Australian
In addition to the Round honours next weekend, each of the winners will be classified as the State Champion in their respective class. They will also have their name etched on a uniquely South Australian trophy – a miniature Stobie Pole that has been hand crafted by the SA Power Network. A Stobie pole is a power line pole made of two steel joists held apart by a slab of concrete that is predominantly used in South Australia. It was invented by Adelaide Electricity Supply Company design engineer James Cyril Stobie.
Maiden Monarto voyage for International classes at Monarto
Next weekend’s event will be the first time that the International KZ2, KF2 and KF3 classes have competed on the Monarto Kart Track. The fastest time recorded around the 1020-metre circuit during competition in the configuration to be used next weekend is 43.725 seconds, set by David Sera at the 2013 National Championship event. It is expected that this mark will be lowered significantly next weekend.
Victorian Invasion
Next weekend’s round of the Australian Kart Championship will see an influx of Victorians top the Murraylands region with 76 of the 220 entries coming from across the border. No less than 54 karts steered by local drivers will take the track across the eight classes while 35 Queenslanders will be in attendance. 30 entries have been received from New South Wales with nine, five and one from Tasmania, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
