AROUND THE STATES

Drivers across four states are competing for State Championship honours this weekend with events being contested in Emerald (QLD), Griffith (NSW), Melbourne (VIC) and Nuriootpa (SA).

Queensland
Local driver Cohen Archer upstaged his more fancied rivals in TAG 125 Light qualifying before Bundaberg’s Troy Loeskow and Harrington Doyle Racing’s Luke Flynn shared the wins in the opening two heats.
Jake Downs continued the winning ways for the Harrington Doyle crew by claiming the win in both TaG 125 Heavy heats.
It was a similar affair in Clubman Light with Jordi Marcon setting the qualifying pace in Clubman Light ahead of James Litzow.   In the two heat races it was Nathan Dunnett and Lydon Dodge who greeted the chequered flag first after a pair of entertaining races.
A number of drivers finished the day with a clean sweep of their class including Jack Doohan (Junior National Light),  Robert Thorburn (Clubman Heavy), Blake Coppo (Restricted 125 Light), Jack Bussey (Junior National Heavy) and Dale McDonnell (Restricted 125 Heavy).
Riley Le Garde and Ty Spencer shared the wins in Cadet 12 as did Joshua Rogers and Joel Jamieson in Junior Performance.

New South Wales
Competitors faced mixed conditions throughout the day in Griffith and it was Pierce Lehane who mastered the drying track best with a scintillating time in TaG 125 Light qualifying.  He then continued the domination with two heat wins ahead of Jaie Robson and Matthew Waters.
Three-time Australian Champion Jason Hryniuk charged through the field in the opening heat of TaG 125 Heavy to take the win before finishing fifth in the second encounter.
Jaiden Pope was the fastest qualifier in Cadet 12 before Joshua Sargent won the opening heat.  Pope fought back to win heat two.
Scuderia PCR Australia driver Benito Montalbano was the driver to beat in Junior National Heavy while Oscar Priest qualified fastest and won the opening heat in Junior National Light.

Victoria
Experience shone through in Clubman Heavy with Leigh Nicoloau leading home multiple-time Australian Champions Matthew Wall and Remo Luciani.
In the junior ranks Angelo Mouzouris continued his domination in the Garden State with a clean sweep ahead of Cory Arnett in Junior National Light.  It was a similar case for Cody Donald in Junior National Heavy.
Shamick Racing’s Will Hawkes led home Formula K driver Adam Lindstrom in TaG 125 Light while Aaron Hindle was undefeated in TaG 125 Heavy.
In Cadet 9 Will Harper and Matthew Domaschenz shared the wins while Emerson Harvey took a clean sweep in Cadet 12.
Cooper Murray was undefeated in Junior Clubman, as was Daniel Rochford in X30 Light.

South Australia
South Australian karting veteran Paul Pittam narrowly edged out his opposition during qualifying in the X30 Light and TaG Light classes around the Robinson Park Raceway in Nuriootpa.
He then used the pole position to his advantage in both heat races to take the win.
In his first State Championship event Christian Cowie poled Cadet 9 and won both races while Adam Slattery was the pacesetter in the Cadet 12 class.
