Asian karting stars Jayden Jin and Yevan David are getting set for the 2018 Race of Stars at the Xtreme Karting Complex on the Gold Coast.

Having competed throughout Asia, Australia and Europe over the past couple of years, the pair will next month (October 11-13) line up at the invitational event.

While there are two other major events on the same weekend in Europe that they qualified for through their respective domestic Series’, the pair have chosen to accept the invitation to head ‘Down Under’ to tackle the best drivers in the Southern Hemisphere.

“I’ve raced in various parts of the world.  The standard of competition here in Australia is extremely high and right up there with the best in the world,” said Jin, who hails from Singapore.

“I have raced once at the Race of Stars before and really enjoyed the event.  I can’t wait to get back to the Gold Coast for another fantastic event.

“I also love the Gold Coast, it is my favourite part of Australia.  The weather is amazing.”

For Sri Lankan-born Yevan, who was crowned the South East Champion in 2017, the excitement about racing on one of the fastest karting circuits in the World is a challenge that he’s really looking forward to.

“I’ve heard a lot about the Race of Stars event and the Gold Coast, but this will be the first time that I’ve had the opportunity to compete at the event,” said 11 year-old David.

“The track is super fast, it will be the fastest that I’ve ever done in a kart.  I think we’ll hit around 100 km/h, it’s going to be great.

“I’ve raced a few times in Australia this year and the competition here rates as high as when I went to race in Italy last year.  There’s a lot of really good drivers in Australia.”

The pair add further international flavour to the event with Dutch drivers Joey Hanssen and Marijn Kremers, Italian Paolo De Conto and a host of New Zealanders set to line up on the grid next month.

It is expected that more than 250 drivers, including numerous internationals, will be in action at the event to be contested at the Xtreme Karting Complex on October 11-13. The Race of Stars will launch the Gold Coast into a ten-day celebration of motorsports with the Vodafone Gold Coast 600 Supercars event being contested on the Surfers Paradise Street Circuit the following weekend.
