This weekend, the world of karting will converge at the illustrious Franciacorta circuit in Italy for the highly anticipated FIA Karting World Championship for the OK and OK-Junior categories.
Among the international grid of talented drivers, Australia is poised to make its mark, with three exceptional young racers in action.
In the OK-Junior category, all eyes will be on Lewis Francis as he aims to showcase his skills and determination on the world stage. The OK-Junior class is known for nurturing future motorsport stars, and Francis is no exception. Hailing from Victoria, the dual Cadet 12 National Champion follows in the footsteps of former champions like Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, who once graced this very category before ascending to Formula 1 stardom.
In the fiercely competitive OK category, two more Australian talents, Dante Vinci and Xavier Avramides, will be vying for glory. Both drivers have demonstrated their prowess on the track and are ready to challenge the world’s elite kart racers. Vinci and Avramides aspire to join the ranks of former champions like George Russell and Pierre Gasly, who honed their craft in the OK category and went on to shine in Formula 1.
The FIA Karting World Championship is a prestigious event that attracts the best karting talents from across the globe. It serves as a stepping stone for many drivers on their journey toward professional motorsport careers.
