AWC Motorsport Academy driver Nathan Zuj had a sensational run at the Australian Kart Championship round at Dubbo after dropping a chain in qualifying which resulted in him starting 28th in the 30 kart field for all four heats.
He drove strongly with finishing results of 11th, 18th, 16th and 11th which gave him grid spot 13th for the final. He was able to carve his way through the field to finish a very deserved 6th.
Brody Appleby, who competed in the X30 class alongside Zuj, qualified in 13th and was on the pace all weekend/ He started out of 6th in the final only to be pushed wide on the first corner, sustaining damage and unfortunately was unable to continue.
Lochie Dalton qualified 31st in a 42 kart field and drove well in his first three heat to have a top 15 grid spot for the final in reach. However, a heat 4 crash resulted in a DNF, and a lowly starting grid. He fought on gamely to finished 24th in the final.
Jackson Callow also had dramas in qualifying and was unable to register a time which resulted in a starting spot of 20 in a 23 kart field. Callow drove well in the heats to claw his way forward in what is the elite class of junior racing in Australia, finishing a very credible 16th in the final.
