Mother and daughter go-karting duo Ellexandra and Treena Best tore up the track at the National Special Ladies’ Go Kart Event during the Australia Day long weekend.
Ellexandra, competing for the seventh consecutive year, placed eighth outright in the Junior National Heavy class, after crashes on the track and extreme wet conditions provided challenging conditions for the heats. In the Junior National Light category she finished second, alongside fellow Victorians Jaymi McKay in first, and Keely Branson in third.
Treena, competing in a new TAG restricted class, finished seventh before a disqualification moved her to sixth place.
Mother and daughter were supported by Zakkary and Darren Best, who were kept busy throughout the event ensuring the girls’ karts were in top shape.
Held at Lithgow Raceway in New South Wales — one of Australia’s longest-standing kartingvenues — the event aimed to create awareness and raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
