Karting Australia (NSW) Inc. signs long term deal with Sydney venue Indy 800
The future of karting in Greater Sydney is looking bright with the announcement today that Karting Australia (NSW) Inc. and Karting Australia have signed a long-term agreement to host events at the Indy 800 circuit located in Wilberforce, NSW.
The 800-metre circuit situated on the Hawkesbury River that was first constructed in 1997 will host its first Karting Australia-sanctioned events in early 2022.
For Karting Australia Chairman Glen Egan, the long-term arrangement with the Indy 800 owners is something that he believes will provide the sport with a superb venue to further boost local Competition in the Greater Sydney Region.
“To be able to provide karting with a venue with owners who take a great pride in their facility and have a passion for the sport of karting is fantastic,” said Egan.
“The venue itself will be able to provide the opportunity for drivers of all ages to once again enjoy the sport and help develop the grass roots of motorsport in the region with the North Shore Kart Club hosting events there from early 2022.”
Karting Australia (NSW) Inc. President Robert Motbey is excited about the prospect of being able to further expand the membership base through the Greater Sydney region.
“Having the team at Indy 800 partner with Karting Australia NSW for the long-term is something that we are thrilled about and we’re eager to get karts on track there at a North Shore Kart Club event early in 2022,” said Motbey.
“I’d like to sincerely thank the team at Indy 800 for their vision of the venue, Karting Australia Chairman Glen Egan and Karting Australia NSW Vice-President Mark Horsley for their commitment and hard work towards this arrangement.
“This is a great step forward for the future of the sport in our region and we look forward to having some great events at the Indy 800 track for many years to come.”
North Shore Kart Club President Sam Mrad echoes the thoughts of Egan and Motbey.
“It’s great to have a venue that our Members can be proud of and that we can truly call our home. Now, with a long-term arrangement between Karting Australia and Karting Australia NSW with the team at Indy 800, we look forward to our club and its members being able to partner with them to make karting great again in the Sydney region,” said Mrad.
“Our number one focus for the foreseeable future will be to bring the fun and family atmosphere back to karting in Sydney by hosting great Club events, including a number of them under lights, and making everyone feel welcome and a part of a Club again.”
Announcements on upcoming events will be made in the coming months, however, Karting Australia Licence holders can practice at the Indy 800 circuit effective immediately.
