More than 20 Cadet drivers from the Coates Hire Race of Stars joined in the V8 Superfest celebrations during a street parade through the streets of Surfers Paradise in the lead up to the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600.
Three of winners from the inaugural event – Chris Hays (Pro Gearbox-KZ2) and Andrew Kahl (Pro Junior-KFJ) and Benito Montalbano (Cadets) were also a part of the festivities that featured many top line drivers in the V8 Supercar Championship.
Prior to the parade, Bathurst 1000 Champion Mark Winterbottom, along with numerous other V8 drivers, took time out to speak with each of the young racers and sign autographs for them.
Despite breaking his collarbone in an incident on Saturday, Theodore Livanes, was determined to be a part of the parade and joined his Cadet compatriots on the Coates Hire Race of Stars float.
As the field of Cadet drivers gathered before the parade, Austin Wells was presented with a Certificate of Excellence for his sportsmanship during yesterday’s racing. Wells has also been selected as the recipient of the Blackberry Powerful Award for the event.
