The Tasmanian karting community has converged on the Archerville Raceway in Launceston for the 2015 Tasmanian Kart Championship presented by Hadspen Excavations this weekend.
Joining the Tasmanian drivers in the battle for the prestigious event will also be numerous drivers from the ‘mainland’ to make in excess of 120 competitors who will be in action.
With 12 classes of racing there will be drivers from as young as seven in the Cadet 9 class through to the more experienced in life in the National Masters class in action.
Leading the local charge will be former Champion Zane Wyatt who will be competing in Clubman Heavy, Nathan Zuj will also be keen to grab another championship on Sunday when he lines up in X30 Light. Troy Stone has gained valuable experience while racing in the Australian Kart Championship this year and will be looking to put this to good use on his home track this weekend. Other local drivers expected to figure prominently include Johnathan Males, Jamie Bricknell, Dillon Van Galen and Alastair Lee.
The Launceston region is well represented in the junior ranks with Junior Clubman having no less than nine members competing against several of the top young drivers from Victoria.
Competitors in the senior classes commence on Friday with practice and qualifying with Juniors starting on Saturday morning. Three heats and a 21-lap final to be contested by all classes throughout the event.
