The International Karting Committee (IKC), organisers of the 2012 CIK Stars of Karting Series, would like to advise of the resignation of Peter Galvin from the position of Series Co-ordinator, effectively immediately.
Galvin has been instrumental in the rejuvenation of the CIK-style of racing back onto Australian circuits over the past few years, however, the pressure of other commitments, both business and personal, has led him to the decision to step down from his position within Australia’s elite series.
“I have truly enjoyed my time as Series Co-ordinator and to see the series go from having ten karts on the grid at the start of 2009 to what it is now is something that personally I’m very proud of,” said Galvin.
“Unfortunately, there comes a time when you just can’t dedicate the time required to do everything you want in life and this is one of those times for me.
“I will continue to be a very strong supporter of the CIK Stars of Karting Series and also heavily involved in the North Shore Kart Club.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Lee Hanatschek for all of his support and dedication towards the series over the past few years, along with the members of the IKC, the karting industry as a whole and the teams and competitors in the series.”
IKC Chairman Craig Denton believes that Galvin’s dedication to the series has been pivotal to its success over the past few years.
“Peter has been instrumental in getting this series to where it is today. From the time he started in the role back in 2009 he certainly put his heart and soul into the championship,” said Denton.
“I’m sure he will continue to be a great supporter and ambassador for the series, we look forward to having him continue to be involved through his other ventures for many years to come.”
In the interim, members of the IKC will share the duties previously completed by the Series Co-ordinator with enquires from teams and competitors to be directed to Lee Hanatschek on lee@starsofkarting.com.au or 0403 531 914.
The IKC consists of Craig Denton (Chairman), Richard Erdmann (Technical Officer), Bob Gallagher (Committee Member) and Kel Treseder (Committee Member).
