CLEAN SWEEP FOR MONTALBANO IN TASMANIA

Benito Montalbano took a clean sweep of the Junior National Light and Junior National Heavy classes at the 2015 Tasmanian Kart Championship in Launceston on the weekend.

The New South Wales driver steered his PCR kart to the front on the field in every one of the eight races he contested across the weekend to claim a pair of State Championships.

In the Light class he was followed across the line by Victorian Jordan Caruso and New South Welshman Zac Crichton with Lachlan Dalton the best of the local drivers in fourth.

Montalbano also led an all ‘mainland’ podium with Victorians Troy Alger and Ben D’Alia joining him on the podium.

Local driver Zane Wyatt claimed his seventh State Championship with victory in Clubman Heavy ahead of Jonathan McDonald and Remo Luciani. Another local driver to take a victory was Tate Frost who was victorious in Junior Clubman.

Jamie Bricknell set the pace for the majority of the weekend in the TaG 125 Heavy class but when he failed to finish the final it allowed Melbourne-based Tasmanian Ben Walter to claim the crown.

Sydneysider Peter O’Neill won National Masters while at the other end of the age scale Brodie Thompson was victorious in Cadet 9 and Emerson Harvey in Cadet 12.

Victorian Brad Marsh-Stepney was undefeated all throughout the weekend in TaG 125 Light while Evan Livingston won X30 Light, Johnah Slater National Pro and Simon Fallon Clubman Light.
