The CRG Australia team have finished 2014 on a high with dual victories on the final weekend of major events in Australian karting for the year.
Having won the Rotax Heavy National Championship in September, Mason Barbera led the way for the team by winning both the Rotax Heavy and DD2 class at the NSW State Championships in Port Macquarie.
In Rotax Heavy, Barbera was the pacesetter all throughout the weekend by qualifying fastest and crossing the line first in every race. His victory in DD2 wasn’t quite so straight-forward.
After qualifying fourth fastest, Barbera steered his CRG to three top five finishes in the heat races before suffering a DNF in the pre-final. The Queensland teenager then charged his way forward from his 12th starting position before hitting the front with two laps remaining. He took the win ahead of the internationally experienced Josh Hart.
In Rotax Light, Gus Flynn flew the flag high for the CRG Australia team with a fine third placing – as did Lee Adams in the DD2 Masters class.
“To finish the year off with some strong results is very rewarding for everyone involved,” said CRG Australia’s Darren King.
“Throughout the year we’ve shown that the CRG product can win in all sorts of conditions, on a variety of circuits, all across Australia. Now it’s time to regroup and focus on continuing our results in 2015.”
