Duo nails lap time at karting event - From the North West Star

SHOWING HER SPEED: Deborah Bradley makes her way around the track.

SAM Pye and Karl Lloyd have claimed the recent Mount Isa Go Kart Club’s Top Lap challenge,  representing Superior Machinery Maintenance.

The event involved 10 teams from seven local businesses trying to get as close as possible to nominated times for 16 laps.

Each team consisted of two drivers, who hit the track for four laps each in the Mount Isa Kart Club’s four- stroke Come and Try karts and four laps in a TAG100 two-stroke racing kart.

Amazingly, Pye and Lloyd drove their nominated time of nine minutes and 10 seconds around the course and were awarded with the aggregate trophy.

“At the start of the day, we never thought that someone could actually get their exact nominated time, so congratulations for Sam and Karl,” Mount Isa Go Kart Club treasurer Guy Hicks said.

“But this day wouldn’t have been possible without businesses like DJ Cleaning, Tyrepower, Superior Machinery Maintenance, Far Northern Pools, Start Maintenance, The BOSS Shop and Malouf Auto Group jumping on board.

“We are grateful of their support and thank all the volunteers for making the day the success it was.”

Fastest lap of the day went to Stuart Hendry, representing Far Northern Pools, in a time of 29.186 seconds.

The next club day will be held on October 11, starting at 3pm.
