EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG KARTING STARS

Over the past decade, hundreds of young Karting Australia licence holders have benefited from the collaboration

Karting Australia is delighted to announce the continuation of its long-standing partnership with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, bringing new and exciting opportunities for Australian kart racers in 2025.

Over the past decade, hundreds of young Karting Australia licence holders have benefited from this collaboration, including current McLaren Formula 1® driver Oscar Piastri, who participated as a ‘Grid Kid’ in 2015, and Alpine Formula 1® driver Jack Doohan, who completed a demonstration lap in 2014.

Thanks to the support of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Karting Australia has been able to introduce karting to the event attendees through a trackside information stand.

In 2025, two exciting initiatives will further strengthen this partnership:

  • Following the 21st annual Junior Top Guns event hosted by the Oakleigh Go-Kart Racing Club next month, the top five male and female drivers in the Cadet 12 category will be invited to apply for an exclusive opportunity at the FORMULA 1 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2025. Two drivers will be selected to experience the thrill of being part of the action.
  • For the first time, “Race Week” will commence with a special karting invitational event at the Port Melbourne International Karting Complex on Monday, March 10. This event will feature invited drivers from select classes and showcase karting as a part of Australian Motorsport’s biggest week of the year. The event will run into the evening and may include appearances from high-profile motorsport personalities.

Further details and invitations for the karting invitational will be distributed in mid-January.

The popular ‘Grid Kids’ program involving young Karting Australia drivers will also continue at the 2025 event. Applications will open in January.
