Exprit pilots took to the Proserpine circuit in force over the weekend at the 2014 Queensland State Championships, held in the magnificent wonders of the Whitsundays.

Heading the team of purple and orange drivers was Gold Coaster Mitch Griffin who qualified fastest in the Rotax Light field aboard his Exprit, before continuing his run of success into the Heat Races, Pre-Final and Blue Plate winning Final.

“The kart felt really strong in qualifying, we had it setup so that it would be fastest on laps 3 and 4” said Mitch.

“The Final was pretty nerve racking though, as Mason Barbera beat me into the first corner putting me into second. I sat closely behind him waiting for the kart to come on which we set it up to do so over the longer distance Final. I made the move on Mason for the lead and was able to drive away and win with the remaining laps. It was an awesome weekend with thanks to Exprit Karts, William Yarwood from Project X Racing, Fastech Trailers and Greyhound Seats.”

Also in the hunt for a Blue Plate was youngster Riley Le Garde who raced solidly all weekend to earn his place on the 3rd step of the podium in the competitive Cadet category. Riley qualified 5th fastest on Friday, and managed to keep his Project X Exprit machine within the top 5 all weekend, setting up for a great drive to 3rd in the Final.
