ANYONE with a need for speed in Gladstone was found zipping and zooming around a local track at a come-and-try day on Sunday.

The Gladstone Kart Club hosted the event, which proved to be very popular among new people to the sport.

From 10am-2pm attendees revved their engines and cheered on with excitement as they had the opportunity to hit the track.

It was nine-year-old Kalen Hodgson’s first time in the driver’s seat, and he was feeling a little anxious.

But he was not completely new to the art of being behind the wheel.

“I like driving games too, and my remote control cars,” he said.

But the nerves were calmed by his team of supporters.

His dad Kris, and sisters Porsha, 6 and Ella, 5 were all by his side before his little wheels zoomed off.
