The opening round of the 2022 SP Tools Australian Kart Championship presented by Castrol EDGE in Melbourne on February 25-27 is set to re-write the record books.

With more than 300 entries having been received across the eight classes, the Championship opener is gearing up to be one of the largest in the Championship’s history.

For the first time, the elite KZ2 class is nearing on a capacity field with two-time defending Champion Troy Loeskow headlining a field that is flushed with well-accomplished drivers and emerging young talent.

The elite Junior class (KA2) continues to flourish with record entries being received and the field will contest the event in an over-subscribed format – as will the popular X30, KA3 Senior and Cadet 12 categories.

The KA4 Junior class is at capacity with a wait list enabled while a healthy number of entries have been received in both the multi-engine TaG 125 class and class for the youngest competitors – Cadet 9.

Entries will remain open through the Karting Australia entry system until the capacity of each class is reached or February 4, whichever occurs first.
