Three of the International visitors for the 2015 Race of Stars powered by SuperFest have taken in some of the sights of the Gold Coast ahead of this weekend’s event.
Five-time World Champion Davide Forè, New Zealander Daniel Bray and Dutchman Marijm Kremers got up close to some Australian wildlife at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary before taking to the famous Gold Coast surf.
For Forè, he rates the Gold Coast as one of the most beautiful places he has visited in the world.
“(Australia) is probably the most beautiful country in the world. I have been to many countries around the world and I can say it is just beautiful, this part (Gold Coast) is the best that I have ever seen. It is a pleasure to come here and race,” said Forè
“I’m really looking forward to putting on a good show at this weekend’s event.”
Bray says that reaching the 160 kilometres an hour against the world’s best in the event is a thrill – as was meeting the Australian wildlife.
“(Racing at the high speeds) is probably easier than doing it with your Club racer guys. As Haysey (Chris Hays) and I found out last year you can touch and get away with it because you’ve got confidence in the guys around you,” said Bray.
“Wolverine the little Koala was pretty cool, he tried to attacked Davide, he got his claws out. It was pretty cool going to the wildlife park to hold the Koala and feed the Kangaroos to give us an insight into the Australian wildlife.”
After finishing fifth last year Kremers is aiming even higher and hopes to take home the winners surfboard so he can further enjoy the surf even more.
“Last year I finished fifth and I think this year we can do much better than that and hopefully take the surfboard home,” said Kremers
“The weather here is much better than back home in Holland. We have a beach in Holland but it is very cold. It is awesome just to experience all of this.”
The Race of Stars will be held at the Xtreme Karting Complex on the Gold Coast this Saturday from 9am.
