Two of the International drivers competing in this weekend’s Race of Stars event on the Gold Coast took in the official driving experience of Supercars at the Norwell Motorplex today.
Italian Davide Forè and Swede Joel Johansson were taken for a ride aboard the Castrol EDGE Commodore Supercar driven by local teenager Tomas Gasperak.
Gasperak, 15, is currently focused on making a career in the NASCAR ranks after being based in America throughout 2017.
The teenager, who was the highest placed Australian driver in the elite KZ2 field at the 2016 Race of Stars, thoroughly enjoyed taking the European stars on a ride aboard a Supercar.
“When you think of Australian motorsport, the first thing most people think of are V8 Supercars. It is the pinnacle of the sport here in Australia. It was great to be able to provide the guys with an experience aboard a V8 today,” said Gasperak.
The trio will all be action this weekend in the high-speed KZ2 gearbox class where they will reach speeds in excess of 160 km/h around the Xtreme Karting Complex.
Practice for the 2017 Race of Stars will be held on Friday ahead of qualifying, with the heat races on Saturday and the Finals on Sunday.
Entry throughout the weekend is free to the public. The Xtreme Karting Complex is located at 540 Pimpama Jacobs Well Road, Pimpama.
