IPSWICH SET FOR MASSIVE AUSTRALIAN KART CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND THIS WEEKEND

The Ipswich Kart Club is gearing up to host the largest ever round of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship presented by Castrol when round four of the 2023 title chase fires up in Queensland.

With 400 competitors set to line up across eight Championship categories, one of the main highlights of this round will be the fierce competition in the elite KZ2 category. Western Australian drivers Jake Klarich and Sam Dicker have emerged as the dominant forces, leading the way ahead of Sydneysider Reece Cohen. With their exceptional skill and determination, these drivers are expected to deliver an intense battle for the top spot.

Out to spoil the party will be BirelART team-mates 2019 World Champion Marijn Kremers from the Netherlands and former Australian Champion Troy Loeskow from Bundaberg. Both drivers have enjoyed success at the Ipswich circuit in the past and are once again expected to figure prominently.

In the elite Junior category – KA2, Max Walton has proven to be unstoppable, securing victory in the previous two rounds. Walton’s outstanding performance has put him in an advantageous position to seal the Championship on his home track, leaving his competitors with a challenging task to catch up.

Breaking barriers and displaying exceptional talent, female racer Lana Flack has been making waves in the Cadet 12 category. Following on from her maiden win at the previous round, her recent win at the Queensland Kart Championship further solidifies her position as a formidable contender. Despite Ipswich being the 12 year-old’s home circuit, with more than 70 competitors set to line up in her class, she will face tough opposition in the race for the podium.

The battle for the TaG 125 crown can’t get any tighter entering this weekend’s round with Victorian Jake Spencer and New South Welshman Jackson Souslin-Harlow equal atop the standings. Local driver Harrison Hoey is within striking distance in third as he aims to take the top spot on the podium at a round of the Championship for the first time since 2018. Behind the leading trio, there will be 75 fellow competitors aiming to show their skills and emerge as the victor.

The event will kick off with practice sessions on Friday morning, followed by qualifying on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, the opening three heat races will take place, setting the stage for an intense showdown. Sunday’s action will feature the last heat race, building up the excitement for the finals.

Admission for spectators is free, allowing fans to witness the racing spectacle up close. Additionally, all the racing action will be live-streamed on watchmysportlive.tv, ensuring that fans from around the world can join in and experience the thrill of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship.
