Jack Doohan’s journey to the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1, showcases the foundation of his career, built from an early age on karting tracks across Australia.
His career began in 2011 at the Lismore Kart Club, where he first got behind the wheel in a Karting Australia event at the age of eight and started developing the skills that would later propel him onto the global stage.
By 2012, Jack was already making waves, finishing third in the prestigious Victorian Kart Championship. His rapid progress continued in 2013 when he placed fourth at the SKUSA SuperNationals, one of the most competitive karting events in the world. The following year, Jack clinched his first major title, winning the CIK Stars of Karting Series and the Queensland Kart Championship in 2014.
In 2015, Jack’s dominance in Australian karting was further cemented when he won the Australian Kart Championship in the Junior KA100 class. He followed up this success with another Australian Kart Championship in 2016, this time in the elite junior category – KA2, showcasing his ability to consistently perform at the highest level.
Jack’s final year in karting, 2017, was marked by international success. He won the second round of the Australian Kart Championship and took third place in the FIA European Karting Championship, one of the toughest karting series globally. Jack also finished a remarkable sixth in the FIA World Karting Championship, confirming his status as one of the world’s top karting talents.
Transitioning to car racing in 2018, Jack competed in various Formula 4 championships, steadily climbing the ranks. His breakout year came in 2021 when he finished second in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, solidifying his reputation as one of the sport’s most promising young drivers. In 2022 and 2023, he competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, finishing sixth and third, respectively.
Jack’s karting foundation undoubtedly played a crucial role in his ascent to the top levels of motorsport. In 2024, he was appointed Alpine Formula 1 Reserve Driver, and in 2025, Jack will achieve his lifelong dream by becoming a Formula 1 driver with the Alpine F1 Team and is set to debut at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix 2025 in Melbourne on March 13-16, 2025.
