Australian Jack Doohan has secured the biggest win of his flourishing career with victory at the final round of the CIK-FIA European Championship in Sweden.
Doohan, 14, was victorious in the OK-Junior class at the final round in the five-event Championship, at the Kristianstad circuit.
After qualifying fourth fastest, Doohan went on to win three of his four qualifying heats to earn the right to start the final from pole position. On a wet circuit, Doohan led the entire the 21-lap encounter before crossing the line more than two-seconds clear of his nearest rival at the chequered flag.
It is the first time an Australian driver has won a round of a European Karting Championship since Jon Targett was victorious in the Formula Super A class in Belgium during 1992.
The victory elevated Doohan to third overall in the final Championship standings.
Doohan will now turn his focus towards the World Championship that will be contested at the PF International circuit in England on September 21-24.
