Australian karting star James Anagnostiadis delivered a stunning performance at the Champions of the Future Academy final, held at the Al Forsan Circuit in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Wednesday night (Australian time). The Mercedes F1 Junior driver claimed victory in dominant fashion, securing the overall championship title with a commanding buffer a top of the standings.
This victory rounded out a stellar year for the Victorian teenager, who also finished runner-up in the World Junior Karting Championship in September. His success on the international stage further solidifies his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in the sport.
The event wasn’t just about Anagnostiadis, as several other Australian drivers also claimed some good results. Charlotte Page delivered a solid performance in the OK-N Senior class, finishing 12th overall. Meanwhile, in the highly competitive 60 Mini class, Koda Singh and Oscar Singh showcased their potential, finishing 9th and 14th respectively in the final race of the series. Oscar was one of the front runners all event long before a 5-second penalty for a driving infringement dropped him down the order in the final classifications.
The Champions of the Future Academy sees young drivers all compete aboard identical equipment to ensure that the best natural talent is able to shine. The elected chassis and engine suppliers are Parolin powered by TM Kart Engines for the Mini class, and Kart Republic powered by IAME for the Junior and Senior classes.
