KARTING AUSTRALIA RELEASES 2025 NATIONAL COMPETITION RULES
Karting Australia has released the 2025 National Competition Rules, introducing several updates designed to enhance the sport’s safety, governance, and competition framework. These changes reflect Karting Australia’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a high standard of karting across the country and a continued extension of our commitment to enhanced safety and risk management in our sport.

Key Administrative Changes
- National Club Affiliation: Updated requirements for club affiliation with Karting Australia.
- Circuit and Event Inspections: New and enhanced requirements for pre-event circuit handover, inspections, and Karting Activity checklists.
General Rules
- Judicial Processes: Provisions on evidence, proof, conduct and witness examination now apply to all Judicial Bodies (previously it was just Tribunals), ensuring consistency across all judicial proceedings.
- Official Roles: New experience requirements introduced for State Officials Coordinator and State Technical Officer roles, along with a recommendation for each State Karting Association to appoint a State Training Officer to lead official training programs. Position Descriptions for all three roles are provided.
- Judges of Fact: Clerks of the Course and Race Directors are now Judges of Fact for track limit violations.
- Reprimands: Drivers accumulating three reprimands within 12 months will face an automatic three-month suspension.
Competition Rules Enhancements
- Rolling Starts: Updated procedures for multi-class events with group separations.
- Tiebreaker for Equal Points:In the event of equal points after multiple races, the final placing will be awarded to the competitor with the higher position in the last section of the event.
Technical and Class-Specific Updates
- Chassis Usage: A chassis may not be shared across multiple drivers or classes at National or State Championships.
- Class Consolidation: Junior Performance Class, which has rarely been contested for several years, covered by consolidated of Classes rules for KA3 Junior, KA2 and Junior Max classes.
- Cadet Adjustments: Restrictions on wheel type, carburettor jetting and gearing for Cadet 9 at Club/Zonal level removed. Maximum rear width and axle dimensions introduced for Cadet classes at National and State Championships.
- 4SS Tyres: Maxxis Sport tyres will be the designated tyre for all 4SS classes.
- Rotax Tyres: LeCont LH03 will be the designated tyre for all Rotax Classes.
