Karting Australia has completed and released its Strategic Plan for the years 2016-2018. It creates a clear direction for Karting Australia’s future and will see karting hold a long-term position of prominence in the Australian motorsport landscape.
It is an important document, for the sport as it, sets the priorities for the sport and the business of the sport for the next three years.
Having been developed across the first two years since the “Company Limited by Guarantee” structure was implemented and following the comprehensive review of karting in Australia under direction of the Karting Australia Board, it sets the priorities for the sport and recognises the shared responsibility for the development of the sport in the years ahead.
The plan prioritises the creation of exciting, fair and safe competition, growth and development, cultural improvement and best practice governance.
These priorities will be accompanied by the focus on creating financial stability and security to allow appropriate development plans to be prepared and implemented while creating sustainable growth.
Karting Australia Chairman Mick Doohan said that the Strategic Plan is a “living document” that will be regularly reviewed with the realignment of priorities as and when the need is identified.
“Over the past two years there has been a lot of work put into this Strategic Plan to ensure Karting Australia has a clear direction for the future,” said Doohan.
“The priorities in this document will continually be reviewed by the Board and Staff of Karting Australia to ensure all of our goals are being met.”
At the same time as releasing the Strategic Plan, the Karting Australia Board has announced the extension of Kelvin O’Reilly’s contract as Chief Executive Officer for a further three years.
O’Reilly joined the Karting Australia in August 2013 after a lengthy career in Sports Administration across the V8 Supercars, World Rally and Super Touring Championships and consulted for various other international motorsport events. He is also a member of the Board for AFL Gold Coast Juniors.
“Stability and continuity in the management of the sport is essential” said Doohan.
“To have Kelvin commit to a further three years at the helm of our sport was vital.”
“Karting Australia would go a long way to find someone as experienced in sports administration as what Kelvin is. Since joining Karting Australia in 2013 he has helped to put the sport on a clear path on a bright future.
“We look forward to having Kelvin at the helm for at least another three years as we embark on some of the most exciting times for our sport.”
