10th July 2017
The Central Queensland town of Emerald will host its first National level sporting event when Round Four of the 2017 Australian Kart Championship presented by Jayco and Castrol EDGE is contested next weekend (July 21-23).
With the penultimate round of the 2017 title chase being held at a venue that many of the contenders have never seen, let alone raced at, before it sets the scene for a scintillating challenge.
The 1005-metre circuit will be one of the fastest that the competitors visit in the 2017 schedule and with it being up to 10 metres wide in places it is bound to provide some great racing across all nine classes.
The Emerald Kart Club has received 220 entries for the event making it the largest ever hosted by the hard working Club.
“The town is really starting to get a buzz about it as everyone gets excited about the karting community heading to Emerald for a round of Australia’s premiere karting Championship,” said Emerald Kart Club President Michael Rolfe.
“To have more than 200 drivers from all across Australia and New Zealand coming to compete is fantastic and I’m confident that all of the competitors and teams will enjoy their stay here in Emerald.”
In hosting the event, the Emerald Kart Club becomes the 16th venue to host a round of Australia’s multi-round National Karting Championship.
Teams and competitors will begin to arrive in the region later this week for pre-event testing ahead of official practice on Friday July 21. Qualifying and the heat races will be contested on Saturday July 22 before the finals on Sunday July 23.
The Emerald Kart Club is located on the Capricorn Highway (behind the Ag Grow site). Admission is free for spectators.
