LUKE Bergens, Blaine Grills and Robert Chamberlain were the pride of Mildura on Sunday as the three local drivers won their respective classes at the North West Victorian Kart Titles.

About 120 racers converged on the Mildura Kart Club from across Australia for the event as the locals put in some impressive performances.

Grills led an all-Mildura podium in the Junior National Heavy class, with club mates Hamish Ribarits and Connor Farr coming second and third respectively.

Bergens beat home South Australian pair Daniel Wallis and Jonathon Mangos in the TAG 125 Light class, while Chamberlain took the honours in the TAG 125 Over 40s from Swan Hill’s Anthony Whitwam and Melbourne’s Wayne Cox.

Mildura Kart Club’s Doug Garsed said the titles had “no major hiccups”, and proved again why they were the showpiece of the local club’s calendar.

“It was a good weekend, and we saw some fantastic racing and some good results from the locals,” he said.

Some favourites from Mildura, however, found the going a little tougher.

Greg Mattschoss was favoured to win both the Sportsman Restricted Light and Heavy classes, but mechanical problems with both karts meant he did not finish.
