The representation of Australia at the 2016 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Sarno, Italy this October has gained increased significance in the build-up to this weekend’s third round of the Rotax Pro Tour with both Micro Max and Mini Max now vying to be part of Team Australia for the first time.
Prior to this year’s event, Micro Max and Mini Max would only field drivers from the Grand Final’s hosting nation, however, BRP-ROTAX recently announced that the two children’s categories will form part of the whole event and drivers from around the world can earn the right to represent their country in those respective classes.
Australia has been allocated one (1) Micro Max seat and two (2) Mini Max seats for this year’s event in Europe, adding to the eleven drivers already heading overseas in October from the respective Junior and Senior classes already previously announced.
The 17th running of the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals will see the Micro Max class compete in Praga chassis’ with the Mini Max Karts to be provided by BirelART. More information regarding chassis partners for the World Finals can be found HERE.
Managing Director of International Karting Distributors (IKD) and promoters of the Rotax Pro Tour, Ian Black, is very enthusiastic about the Micro Max and Mini Max drivers now being part of Team Australia and is sure that the already high level of competitiveness within the classes will increase with this added prize.
“I’m really pleased that the Micro Max and Mini Max drivers will now have an opportunity to experience a Rotax World Final. The event is always incredible and a privilege to be a part of. Rotax put on a great show and create an atmosphere like no other event in the World! I’d like to wish all of the drivers the very best of luck and look forward to announcing the winners of these seats at Puckapunyal later in the year,” Black said.
The Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals is the largest international karting event on the calendar, and this year will take place at Sarno, Italy from the 16 – 22 October 2016. For more information about the event, please visit www.rotax-kart.com
