Two of the international competitors who will be competing in next Saturday’s (October 18) Race of Stars on the Gold Coast were victorious in the German and Italian Championships on the weekend.
Dutch driver Marijn Kremers, who will compete with the Gold Coast-based Patrizicorse team next week, claimed victory in the final round of the German KZ2 Championship while Lorenzo Camplese secured back-to-back Italian Championships.
“It felt great to finally cross the finish in first. We have been working really hard, and we should have had this win a few races ago but due to bad luck it took a bit longer than we had hoped,” said Kremers.
Kremers’ next event will be the Race of Stars where he will line up against the Australia’s best drivers and many of the world’s best – including World Champions Davide Forè and Jonathan Thonon.
“I’m really looking forward to come to Australia, I’ve grown a lot after the race in Ipswich earlier this year and I’m sure we can win this race even with all the international drivers. All these guys I have beaten at least once this season already and I’m in good form now,” said Kremers.
The Race of Stars, to be held at the Xtreme Karting Complex in Pimpama, is powered by the V8 Superfest that surrounds the Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600. The V8 Superfest is a community events program that is an initiative of the Queensland Government, Gold Coast City Council and V8 Supercars Australia. The free event is open to spectators and last year enjoyed great attendances.
More than 150 competitors, ranging from the youngest in the Cadets class through to the high-speed elite KZ2 class where drivers will reach speeds in excess of 160 km/h, will be in action at next Saturday’s event.
