Weight adjustment for TaG, TaG Restricted and Junior Max
Following a thorough review of the performance of the engines currently permitted in TaG and TaG Restricted competition, along with evaluation of the technical changes that have had an impact on or are expected to have an impact on on-track competition in these Classes, including the introduction of the Rotax EVO engines, Karting Australia has decided that it is appropriate to adjust the weights that are applicable in these competitions.
After reviewing the equalisation options available, it is considered that the continuation of the use of an appropriate parity weighting system that will be the subject of regular review is both in keeping with the TaG (Unrestricted) principles and the most appropriate and cost effective way to manage the performance differences between the various TaG engines that are approved for Competition.
There is an automatic flow through of the Rotax EVO engine weight from TaG unrestricted competition to TaG Restricted Competition. No new restrictors will be required for TaG Restricted competition.
The introduction of the Rotax EVO Junior Max engine into Junior Max Competition (other than in the Rotax Pro Tour) has seen the same principle of a 5kg weight differential being applied to the two engines eligible for competition.
All adjustments are effective 16 June 2015 as per the Technical Rule Interpretation (TRI 15-10) that can be found by clicking here.
