One of the World’s leading motorsport news websites, Speedcafe.com has joined as a major partner of the Race of Stars karting extravaganza on the Gold Coast this weekend.
Now in its second year, the Race of Stars has attracted no less than eight international competitors, including two of the biggest names in world karting – five time World Champion Davide Forè and his three time World Champion arch rival, Jonathan Thonon.
As part of Speedcafe.com’s major partnership, Saturday’s action will be beamed live across the globe on from 12:00pm (Queensland time). This coverage will not only see all of the finals of the regular kart classes shown live but also the Speedcafe.com ProAm race where a dozen V8 Supercar drivers will be in action.
The Race of Stars will see more than 160 of Australia’s, and some of the world’s best drivers in action at the Xtreme Karting Complex as a part of the V8 Superfest in the lead up to the Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600.
“Kart racing plays a huge part in the DNA of motorsport and Speedcafe.com is a website that has been designed for the fans and our partnership with the Race of Stars is another extension of our commitment to the sport at all levels,” said Speedcafe.com General Manager Leisa Emberson.
“We’ve enjoyed some fantastic shows with our partnership of the Castrol EDGE CIK Stars of Karting Championship this year, and our involvement with the Race of Stars is an extension of this partnership.”
With the karts to take to the circuit for the first time on Friday, the excitement is beginning to build with the international drivers beginning to arrive on the Gold Coast.
Saturday’s event will feature the youngest drivers in karting – the Cadets – right through to the high-speed, elite KZ2 class, where drivers are expected to reach speeds in excess of 160 km/h.
The Xtreme Karting Complex is located on Pimpama Jacobs Well Road, Pimpama (Exit 49 off the M1), entry to see some of the world’s best kart racers is free.
The Race of Stars is powered by the V8 Superfest that surrounds the Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600. The V8 Superfest is a community events program that is an initiative of the Queensland Government, Gold Coast City Council and V8 Supercars Australia.
The free event is open to spectators and last year enjoyed great attendances.
The Livestream will start at www.speedcafe.com/kartinglive from 12pm Queensland time (1pm ADST). GMT/UK -9 hours, European time -8 hours.
