Leading motor sport website Speedcafe.com has cemented itself as major part of the Australian motor sport landscape by becoming the official presenting partner of the inaugural Australian Motor Sport Hall of Fame.
The inaugural inductees into Australian Motor Sport Hall of Fame presented by Speedcafe.com will be announced at a black-tie gala dinner at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, March 19 as part of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix weekend.
The project was originally instigated by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) and has since received support from Motorcycling Australia, Karting Australia, the Australian National Drag Racing Association, Speedway Australia, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and V8 Supercars.
Speedcafe.com has also made a major commitment as the Official Media Partner of the Australian Motor Sport Hall of Fame which will see it develop many unique activities in the lead up to the event and on the night.
Speedcafe.com has also made a major commitment as the Official Media Partner of the Australian Motor Sport Hall of Fame which will see it develop many unique activities in the lead up to the event and on the night.
AMSHoF committee chairman, Garry Connelly, says up to 30 members from across the different disciplines will be inducted in the first year.
Exclusive pre-sale dinner tickets will go on sale today to members of each of the participating motor sport organisations and to Speedcafe.com subscribers.
Tickets to the black-tie event will be available to members of the general public from Thursday through links on Speedcafe.com and cams.com.au for $295.
Platinum and Gold packages are available for corporates and large groups.
The night will be one of the most significant of its kind in the history of Australian Motor Sport with members of all the sport’s disciplines coming together en masse for the first time to celebrate their “greats”.
Speedcafe.com’s partnership announcement coincides with the announcement of the first group of Platinum Partners – the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, V8 Supercars, the CAMS Foundation, Famous Insurance and Imagine Technology.
“Speedcafe.com has made an amazing contribution to Australian and world motor sport since its inception just six short years ago,” said Connelly.
“The fact the organisation has taken on the position as the Hall of Fame’s official media partner and as the event’s official presenting partner is testimony to its commitment.
“‘Crusher” (Brett Murray) and his team have already gone above and beyond with their commitment and ideas and we are excited to be working in partnership with them.
“The first group of inductees will comprise approximately 30 individuals who have made incredible contributions to our sport.
“It is incumbent on us to pay tribute to these outstanding people and as such the entire motor sport community is driving this initiative.”
The inductees will be selected by a voting panel comprising representatives from each discipline of the sport and three motor sport journalists.
Speedcafe.com creator, Brett “Crusher” Murray, said he was proud that Speedcafe.com had evolved to a position where it could partner with such a significant initiative for Australian motor sport, both professionally and financially.
“While each of the major motor sport organisations have their own Hall of Fame, this is truly a national recognition of the leading achievers and contributors to the sport as a whole,” said Murray.
“It think it will be fascinating to see the list of inaugural inductees and then who is added each and every year.
“The Hall of Fame committee has worked tirelessly to put all this together and Speedcafe.com is proud to be both the Official Presenting Partner and Official Media Partner.
“It was always our goal to not only make Speedcafe.com a vital news source for motorsport fans in Australia, New Zealand and the rest of the world, but to become a respected and vital part and voice of the motorsport community as a whole.
“We have an enormously talented and dedicated staff of journalists, designers, photographers, videographers and social media talent, headed by our General Manager, Leisa Emberson, who work around the clock to give our ever-growing readership their news First, Fast and Free.
“We have some terrific things planned in the lead up to the inaugural gala dinner and for our coverage on the night.
“As Official Presenting Partner we are pleased to be working with the other partners, AGPC, V8 Supercars, the CAMS Foundation, Famous Insurance and Imagine Technology, to make this a night to remember.
“We will also be announcing a major initiative in coming weeks that will be another “first” for Australian motor sport and it will have an effect on every member of the community.”
