Australia’s elite karting championship, the CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE, will make a return to South Australia in 2013 with series organisers announcing a revised calendar today.
After initially being left off the schedule for 2013, South Australia’s Bolivar Raceway will host round two of the series on April 27/28.
“It’s great news for the South Australian motorsport community that the top level of karting will make a return to the Bolivar Raceway next year,” said Series Representative Lee Hanatschek.
“Over the years there has been some tremendous racing in the series at the Bolivar Raceway and I’m confident that 2013 will be no different. The circuit is one of the most challenging in Australia and everyone in the series is looking forward to heading back to one of the traditional homes of the CIK style of racing.
“Hopefully it will also provide some of the local South Australian drivers with the opportunity to star on the biggest stage in Australian karting.”
The inclusion of South Australia comes after a heavy workload in 2013 for the Combined Districts Kart Club led to its committee relinquishing the opportunity to host a round next year. The Lithgow venue will next year host the New South Wales State Championships along with the Annual All Ladies Race Day and another special event to celebrate the Club’s 50-year anniversary.
The champions in the 2012 CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE will be decided in three week’s time (September 22/23) at the Port Melbourne circuit in Victoria.
