It is with sadness that the Australian Karting Association acknowledges the tragic passing of Gladstone Kart Club member Norton Rogers.
Rogers, 17, died in hospital following a car accident on the Dawson Highway near Calliope, Queensland on Saturday afternoon.
It is understood that Rogers’ four-wheel drive utility collided with another vehicle.
The Calliope resident was a well-known youngster in the close-knit community having competed in a number of sports and was last year crowned Gladstone Kart Club Champion in the TAG125 category.
Rogers will be sorely missed by the Queensland karting community.
The AKA will post funeral details for members when they become available.
Karting Australia acknowledges Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognises the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities.
We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and to Elders past and present.
