Welcome Australian Karters to the March edition of KartOz Magazine. Its another great month of karting action.
Well, its March, which means you should be well into the swing of things now and we certainly are at KartOz. The first few big events of the year have been held and we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did!
One of the big events was the first round of the Rotax Pro Tour, held at the popular Melbourne circuit of Todd Road. It was an event that was well attended and held in good spirits, setting the scene for a good year for the series for those looking to win themselves a spot in the World Finals.
Another such event was the annual Lithgow Ladies Event. Held to raise money for breast cancer and preceded by a juniors camp and days racing open to all, the event was a great success held in an atmosphere comparable to the Coffs Harbour Over 40s event. Its a great date on the calendar each year, so ladies, make sure you pencil it in for next year!
Weve also got the news from rounds one and two from the Junior Top Guns. Held over consecutive nights after some re-scheduling due to the Victorian floods, the event at Oakleigh had the cream of young drivers attend to duke it out for some great prizes, including a racecar drive.
There was also the Brian Farley Memorial Event, held at the great Eastern Creek Raceway in Sydney. With a prime location the event, held in honor of the long time AKA official, has really come into its own over the past couple of years to be one of the biggest one-off events in not only NSW but the country.
On a more somber note the team at KartOz wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to the Burridge family on the tragic passing of Mark Burridge a young member of the Mackay Kart Club and his parents Peter and Diane and his sister Kristy in a terrible traffic accident last month. Plus we extend heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the recent extreme weather and flooding in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. We hope everyone in the karting community will be right back on their feet again soon.
