CIK Stars of Karting Series Pro Junior (KF3) Champion Pierce Lehane has made a strong start to his campaign in the WSK Nations Cup event at La Conca in Italy overnight.
In wet conditions the Sydneysider posted the sixth fastest time in his group to qualify ninth for the three heat races.
Lehane’s time of 1min 03.931sec was less just over half a second behind the fastest time of the day set by Max Verstappen with a mere 0.3 seconds covering the drivers second to ninth.
The heat races will be contested this afternoon and into tonight (Australian time) ahead of the pre-final and finals tomorrow.
Sunshine Coast’s Kyle Ensbey is also competing at the event in the KZ2 gearbox category, he qualified 30th.
