VALE GRAEME MONDS (1947-2025)

With profound sadness, Karting Australia acknowledges the passing of long-time Official Graeme Monds, who passed away on March 25 at the age of 77.

Graeme was more than just a dedicated official—he was a true gentleman, known for his warmth, wisdom, and an irrepressible sense of fun. He led by example, mentoring countless drivers and officials throughout his time in karting. His passion for guiding and supporting others to be their very best leaves a legacy that will endure for generations.

His contributions to the sport were both significant and lasting. As a founding member of the Gippsland Go Kart Club, Graeme played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Golden City Power Series, which later evolved into today’s Golden Power Series.

Beyond his leadership at Club and State levels, Graeme was a respected and long-serving Karting Australia Official, admired by competitors and fellow officials alike. In recognition of his tireless dedication, he was honoured as a Life Member of both the Gippsland Go Kart Club Inc. and Karting Victoria.

Graeme was also a fierce and highly skilled competitor, earning the admiration of his peers in both speedway and karting. His determination, sportsmanship, and passion for racing left an indelible mark on the motorsport community.

Our thoughts are with his wife Jeanette, Geoff and Kathy Medew, and Graeme’s many friends during this difficult time.

Though he will be deeply missed, his impact, his spirit, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rest in peace, Graeme.
