BirelART Australia are pleased to announce that Brad Stewart will join the factory team for the upcoming second round of the Australian Kart Championship (AKC) in South Australia and for the remainder of the series in the next step in the 16 year-old’s racing career, following his second place finish at the opening round at Todd Road in Melbourne, Victoria.
In his first year out of the junior ranks of Karting and only his second event using the X30 engine, Brad achieved second amongst an experienced and well-credentialed field at the opening round of the National series in Melbourne and Stewart admits the opportunity to join BirelART Australia is one that he is overwhelmingly excited about on many fronts.
“The chance to join BirelART Australia will provide a huge advantage for my career. Steve (Macken) and the whole team are very professional in every aspect and I look forward to benefiting from the experience that the whole crew have in Karting in general. I believe this is the next critical step in my racing career and it will most certainly provide a brilliant step up for myself as a driver,” Stewart said.
BirelART Australia Team Principal, Steve Macken is looking forward to welcoming Brad as part of the team and admits that his results at the opening round of the series were a big effort in consideration of being so new to the senior ranks of Karting.
“Brad was very impressive at the first round of the AKC in Melbourne. To come away with second overall against such an experienced field and being so new to both the engine and senior Karting, it has set him up for a very good year of racing and we look forward to being part of his career throughout the year and beyond,” Macken said.
The opening round of the Australian Kart Championship saw BirelART Australia’s Brad Jenner take the win in X30, in addition to his commitments in Rotax Light with the Pro Tour. With Brad Stewart joining the team, Steve Macken believes it is another exciting opportunity to further expand the BirelART brand throughout the series and seek to achieve more impressive results.
“As a team, we achieved some good results at the first round of the Australian Kart Championship, in particular with Brad (Jenner) taking the win in X30. I think it is very exciting to have both Brad Jenner and Brad Stewart now competing as team mates in the same class and we are looking forward to seeing the brand strengthen its presence in the category and throughout the whole series as we look to further embark on creating a bigger presence in the AKC, and align the same professionalism with this series as we achieve in the Rotax Pro Tour,” Macken concluded.
Round two of the Australian Kart Championship takes place at the Monarto Karting Complex, South Australia from 22-24 May.
